
Bellamy Young was born Amy Maria Young in February 1970. 1 She is an American actor, singer also known as producer, actor, and singer most well-known for her performance on the show Melody "Mellie," Grant in ABC's Scandal between 2012 and 2018. The actress was awarded an award in 2014, the Critics' Choice TV award for the most outstanding supporting actress in dramas. Additionally, she was part of Fox's Prodigal Son (1919-2021). Young started her career as an actor in theatre. She made her Broadway debut on Broadway in the year 1997 as Mary in the original ensemble. Alongside her Broadway debut, she has played Mary off Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's musical Merrily You Roll Along (1994) or in Randy Newman's Faust (95-1996). The year 1995 was the year she made her TV debut with a role that she reprised on The NBC daytime soap show Another World as Dr. Courtney Evans. Both in 1997 and 1998, she guest starred in two roles in the show Law & Order. Her debut film came in 1999 as the role of"Black and White," a crime drama. She later starred in other independent movies. Beginning in 2000, she started appearing as guest-star roles on a number of television comedies and dramas including The Drew Carey Show, The X Files, ER, Frasier, The West Wing, NCIS, Medium, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Two and a Half Men, Supernatural, Drop Dead Diva, and Castle. Between 2000 and 2011, Young appeared in more than 30 guest appearances on television programs.
